Cornwall Over 55s Ladies Defeat Devon 4-1

Cornwall’s Over 55 Ladies produced a superb performance against Devon at Penzance Tennis Club yesterday, securing a convincing 4–1 victory in sweltering conditions, with temperatures soaring into the mid-30s.

Julie and Flora were in outstanding form, both winning their singles matches convincingly before combining for a dominant 6-0, 6-0 doubles victory. Julie did not drop a single game all day, while Flora lost just two games across her singles and doubles matches.

Meanwhile, Sarah and Maxine were involved in two fiercely contested doubles matches. After narrowly losing the first rubber in a championship tie-break 10-7, they dug deep in their second rubber, taking the match to a deciding championship tie-break to win it 10-6.

In extremely challenging conditions, all four players showed great spirit and teamwork to secure an excellent 4–1 victory over Devon.

A special thank you to all the supporters who came along to watch and cheer the team on in the intense heat. Your support was greatly appreciated.

Well played to Julie, Flora, Sarah and Maxine on a fantastic team performance.
