First Padel County Closed did not disappoint!
DAY 1
The weekend at UK Padel Newquay kicked off with the Men’s Open with some thrilling matches throughout the day, culminating in a fantastic and incredibly close final between Jon & Aiden and Elijah & Sonny. The final went right down to the wire, with Jon & Aiden taking the match tiebreak 10–8 to become our first Cornwall Padel County Closed Men’s Open champions!
The spectators were treated to some fantastic padel and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day - a great start to what promises to be an exciting weekend.
A huge thank you to Simon Eaves-Bunce, who sponsored today’s event and presented our winners trophies.
DAY 2
The ladies were first on court this morning, with some incredibly close-fought matches. The semi- final between India & Emily and Amelia & Paige went all the way to a match tie-break - what a battle!
Amelia & Paige then faced Geraldine & Gemma in the final and came out on top to take the title! They celebrated in style… filling their newly acquired trophy with champers!
Congratulations ladies, very well deserved!
The afternoon saw the Men’s Over 50s take to the courts, with a strong draw showcasing plenty of skill, determination and competitive rallies.
After battling their way through the draw, Dave & Craig faced Matt & Paul in the final.
The seasoned pairing of Dave & Craig took the title with a fantastic 6–2, 7–5 victory!
A huge well done to all the competitors who took part and made the tournament such a great success.
